Senator
Dede Alpert, Councilman Scott Peters & Del Mar Union School
District celebrate on new elementary school
Del Mar Union School District (DMUSD) celebrated the dedication
of Torrey Hills Elementary School. California State Senator
Dede Alpert and City Councilman Scott Peters were featured
speakers at the event, which included DMUSD Board of Trustees,
DMUSD staff, Torrey Hills Elementary School students,Torrey
Hills PTA,Barnhart Inc, and Roesling Nakamura Architects.
Torrey
Hills was designed by Roesling Nakamura and construction was
managed by Barnhart, Inc. Barnhart completed construction
management of nearby Sage Canyon Elementary School in September
of 2000.
The school
totals 54,000 square feet of wood framed buildings. Included
are an administration building, library,multi-purpose room,
eight classroom buildings, two restroom buildings, kindergarten
area, and one extended studies facility. Covered walkways
are also featured. The school began construction in June 2001.
"We
are thrilled to commemorate the dedication of Torrey HIlls
Elementary School and are proud to celebrate the collaborative
efforts given by our elected officials, our Board of Education,
district staff, our construction and design team, the surrounding
community, and the City of San Diego," commented Tom
Bishop, Superintendent of the Del Mar Union School District.
Team
members for the project design and construction include: Bishop,
Kathy Tanner, DMUSD Facilities Director; Ralph Roesling of
Roesling Nakamura. From Barnhart were: Glynna Hoekstra, Construction
Manager; Kevin Boland,Site Supervisor; Jim Fisher, Project
Manager; Rosie Montano, Project Engineer, and Ann Sadberry,
Jobsite Office Administrator.
