SAN DIEGO - The city and Chamber of Commerce of Chula Vista,
Calif., awarded Tucker Sadler Noble Castro Architecture firm
a beautification award for its design of the Corky McMillin
Elementary School.
The 60,000-square-foot
elementary school is comprised of nine one-story buildings
clustered in a village-like arrangement on a 10.3-acre site.
The school accommodates 750 students in grades K-6. The Chula
Vista selection committee liked the school's different shapes;
colors; and changes in elevation, form, and texture.
The award
was given to projects completed in 2001 and the firm was one
of 14 construction projects receiving awards. The Corky McMillin
Elementary School was the only school building to receive
an award. The ceremony was Chula Vista's 39th annual awards
program.
