Barnhart, Inc. completes new city hall and
library expansion project for City of Mission Viejo
The
City of Mission Viejo and Construction Manager Barnhart, Inc.,
completed construction of the New City Hall and Library Expansion
Project in April of 2002.
Barnhart,
Inc., in partnership with the City and LPA Architects, managed
the design and construction of a new 52,303 square foot City
Hall. Features include administrative space, council chamber,
and an emergency operations center/community room, which will
house the City's municipal functions well into this century.
The library
expansion is 14,441 square feet bringing the total library
size to 29,9240. This area provides additional space for the
library collection, study rooms, a state-of-the-art television
studio, and a traffic control room. The facility features
structural steel and wood frame, as well as metal stud and
exposed glue-lam. A tongue & groove ceiling and copper
roof were constructed to match the existing facility which
incorporates both glass and aluminum composite panels at the
exterior integrated with EIFS. There is a stone veneer on
the exterior of the building.
The existing
library was fully operational during construction of the expansion.
The project began construction in March of 2001.
