MiraCosta library in the works
Iron workers Bret Messer, left, and Sven Sweat
place the final steel beam on the skeleton of MiraCosta College's
new library in a topping out ceremony Friday on the Oceanside
campus. The potted evergreen tree on the lest side of
the beam symbolized that the structure has gone up with no
injuries or loss of life. About 130 people cheered as
the beam was hoisted into place. The $9.9 million building
is expected to open by the end of the year. It took
17 days to pit the steel in place.
