Barnhart, Inc. and Mosher Drew Watson & Ferguson
complete SNCO Academy and Barracks
Design-Build
team completes 85,000 square foot educational and living facility
at Camp Pendleton
Barnhart,
Inc. and design-build partner Mosher Drew Watson & Ferguson
has completed the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) Academy
facility and an accompanying Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ).
The new
85,000 square foot facility is comprised of five buildings,
including the BEQ, activity center, academy,warehouse, and
an armory. Constructed of masonry, the facility provides lodging
of Academy students and is one of only two educational facilities
in the national build expressly to train SNCO. Staff NCO personnel
will receive Professional Military Education, including, educational,
mental, and physical training, leadership development, tactics/strategies,
operations, communication, and employment of weapons systems
education. A cast-in-place concrete amphitheater for graduation
and parade ceremonies was also constructed.
Key subcontractors
included Sierra Pacific West, New Dimension Masonry, Quality
Reinforcing, Partition Specialties, Burch Construction, Schultz
Contracting, RJ Lanthier, Gould Electric, and Nick Pecoraro
Painting.
Southwest
Division (SWDIV) Naval Facilities Engineering Command has
over 1100 federal employees in a ten-state area on the West
coast. SWDIV manages the planning, design and construction
of shore facilities for the US Navy and Marine Corps. SWDIV
contracts with commercial businesses to produce and deliver
construction for the military such as housing, piers, laboratories
and hospitals to name a few. SWDIV's annual operating budget
is over $1.B and its construction contracts are awarded West
Coast-wide resulting in huge economic impacts for many communities.
Overall, the Navy provides our military's force with the operating
and training bases needed when on shore or sea duty.

Control Manager. Mosher Drew Watson & Ferguson team members
included Larry Hoeksema and Bill Magnuson.
