Barnhart
Inc. and steel contractors completed steel erection on the
Riverside Community College Digital Library and the Mira Costa
Community College Information Hub and Library.
Barnhart
is the general contractor for the $17.5 million Digital Library
at Riverside Community College. The structure is steel frame
and concrete and measures 123,291 square feet. The facility
features innovative cabling and technology wiring, as well
as receptacle and lecture-style seating. Steel was topped
out in mid-March by Palmer Steel. This is the first new construction
project on the campus since 1969.
Barnhart
is also the Construction Manager for the new 47,790 square
foot library and information hub at Mira Costa's Oceanside
campus. The $10 million project will house high-tech collaborative
computer labs, tutoring labs, and learning resources, media
services, administrative computer services and office space.
Steel company McMahon Steel placed the final beam in place
at a "Topping Out" ceremony in early March. College
officials and project team members signed the beam before
it was hoisted into place. The facility is on schedule for
an August 2002 completion.
