Mission
Viejo city hall, library expansion
Construction of a new city hall and a library
expansion for the city of Mission Viejo has been completed.
San Diego-based Douglas E. Barnhart Inc. was the
design and construction manager. The designer was LPA Architects.
The 52,303-squaree-foot
city hall features administrative space, a council chamber
and an emergency operations center/community room. The 14,441-square-foot
library expansion brings the facility to 29,940 square feet.
The new area provides space for the library collection, study
room, a television studio and a traffic control room. The
project began in March 2001. Barnhart was the general contractor
on the original library.
For Barnhart,
Brian Cahill was the construction manager, Richard Bruce the
project manager, Bill Downing and Craig Smith the superintendents
and Barbara Welch the engineer. James. T. Wirick, Rick D'Amato,
Lawrence Chiu, Craig Whitridge and Michael Henning represented
LPA.
