Digital
Library & Learning Resources Center Nears Completion
Already regarded as a model project at the state level, the
Digital Library & Learning Resources Center is nearing
completion. Located on the Riverside Campus, the library will
offer students and residents state-of-the-art research and
technology services when it opens in 2003.
Designed
to accommodate both current and future technology, the library
offers multi-media internet broadcasting rooms, a computer
commons area, a new media distribution center for instructional
video on demand, wireless study areas, a media production
area, faculty computer graphics workrooms, and video conferencing
facilities. It also will house the current book, periodical,
and research collections located in the Martin Luther King,
Jr. Library, and will offer all traditional library services.
Once
opened, the new Digital Library & Learning Resources Center
will function as the central library for the college district.
Construction on the building is ahead of schedule, and a public
grand opening is planned for fall 2003.
