Permanent
campus completed after ten years in portable classrooms
The Nuview Union School District, middle school
students, representatives from the offices of Senator Ray
Haynes, Assemblyman Dennis Hollingsworth, and Riverside County
Supervisor Jim Venable, Construction Manager Barnhart, Inc.,
and Trittipo & Associates Architects held a ribbon cutting
and dedication ceremony today for a $16.2 million permanent
campus for Mountain Shadows Middle School.
The new
100,000 square foot middle school in the Nuevo community houses
students in grades 6-8. Mountain Shadows had been operating
in portable buildings for the past twelve years. The school
was constructed on a 6.6-acre site adjacent to the existing
campus. Construction took 15 months.
The school
was designed by Trittipo & Associates and Barnhart, Inc.,
is the Construction Manager for the district.
School
district officials are excited about the new campus. Dr Jay
Hoffman, Superintendent for the district commented, "The
students and the community have waited twelve years for this.
We believe once the students are settled in their state-of-the-art
facility, they will agree this campus is well worth the wait!"
The school
features seven buildings, including classrooms, science labs,
multi-purpose room, kitchen facilities, locker rooms, library
and administrative offices. The school will include energy-efficient
building materials as well as the latest innovations in instructional
technologies.
