Douglas
E. Barnhart, Inc. is slated to break ground next
year on a new $1534 million elementary school for San Diego
Unified School District.
The new
design/build Herbert Ibarra Elementary School, currently under
design by Barnhart design partner Ruhnau Ruhnau Clarke,
will measure 56,000 square feet in six buildings.
The project
will include construction of a multi-purpose room, administration
area, library and classrooms. Construction is planned to begin
in January with a final completion slated for March 2005.
The 8.5-acre campus is in the City Heights area and will accommodate
650 students.
Representing
the San Diego Unified Facilities Management Division are Chief
Operating Officer Lou Smith, construction supervisor Steve
Bovee and project manager Linda Clark. Joe Calderon is representing
the architect. Barnhart team members include Brian Cahill,
Jeff Bingham and Stan Streit.
