Barnhart
Group Wins School District Contract
PinnacleOne/Barnhart, a joint venture between San Diego-based
Douglas E. Barnhart Inc. and Tempe, Ariz.-based
PinnacleOne, was selected as the program and construction
manager for $251 million worth of projects in the Poway Unified
School District.
The joint
venture will oversee repairs, renovations, and expansions
at 24 of the district's schools. Last year, voters approved
Proposition U, which contributed $198 million to the construction
effort.
The construction
program will replace aging portable classrooms, upgrade inadequate
plumbing and electrical systems, install energy-efficient
mechanical systems, make schools compliant with safety and
access codes, and build new permanent classrooms to relieve
overcrowding.
NTD Architects
of San Diego is the architect for the first five projects.
Construction on the first four projects is expected to start
in the summer of 2004.
PinnacleOne/Barnhart
is managing a similar program for the Oceanside Unified School
District with $125 million in bond funding.
