The $6.7 million addition and renovation of Cardiff Elementary School in Cardiff has been completed by Douglas E. Barnhart Inc.

The expansion features two new buildings, including an arts and science center, district office, library, school office and computer lab.

Construction on Cardiff Elementary began soon after the reconstruction of Ada Harris Elementary School, also in Cardiff. The old Ada Harris School was demolished in May to make way for new sports fields, which are currently under construction.

HMC Architects was the designer for the design-build projects. From HMC were Randy Peterson, Katherine Lord and Bernard Kruczynski. Representing Barnhart were Brian Cahill, Richard Bruce, Brian Rasmussen, Barbara Welch and Sue Davis.
